Cook What? — Delete your account
Account and data deletion
Delete your account in the app
- Open Cook What? and log in.
- Go to Account (the gear icon on Home for employers, the Account tab for helpers).
- Tap Delete my account and confirm.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. If you are the main employer, this also deletes the household's meal plans, recipes, preferences, grocery lists and points for every member. If you are a helper, any unredeemed points are forfeited (the app shows you how many and asks you to confirm first).
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Vouchers not yet released
If you are the main employer and your household's reward pool still holds vouchers that have not been released to your helper, deleting your account forfeits them — the app warns you first. To receive them, email admin.cookwhat@gmail.com before you delete, as set out in clause 4.6 of the Terms of Use.
Can't access the app?
Email admin.cookwhat@gmail.com from the email address of your Cook What? account with the subject "Account deletion request". We verify the request, delete the account and its data within 30 days, and confirm by reply.
What is deleted
Your login credentials, profile (name and email) and, for the main employer, all household data: preferences, meal plans and their recipes, grocery lists, suggestions, bookmarks, ratings, points history, reward records, any payment screenshots attached to voucher purchases, and the delivery details (recipient name, phone and address) saved for redeemed vouchers. Recipe-library content that is not tied to your account is not affected.
What is kept
Where a helper account with unredeemed points or a pending voucher is deleted, we keep a minimal record of the points given up (name, email, amount, date) so any outstanding reward obligation can still be honoured or audited. We keep the accounting record of each voucher purchase paid by PayNow — its reference, amount, status and dates, with no name or email attached — because it records a payment we received. To apply the one-free-trial rule, we keep a one-way coded (hashed) form of the main employer's email address and the dates of any free trial. Nothing else is kept after deletion. See the Privacy Policy, clause 8.
